We offered Maison Areion’s Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir a few weeks ago which was a brilliant success. We can now offer their equally impressive Santa Cruz Moutain Chardonnay that rivals in quality the Mount Eden Estate, Ceritas, and Arnot Roberts versions from the Santa Cruz Mountains at less than ½ their prices! This wine is sourced from a single vineyard (Chaine d’Or) Planted in the late ’80s. The vineyard is farmed sustainably, with many organic, and biodynamic principles being employed. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed with a slow cool fermentation using all native yeasts. The wine is then left on the healthy lees and goes thru primary and secondary fermentation in 3 and 4-year-old French oak barrels where it spends about twelve months. It is then bottled unfiltered. The wine is a little grumpy when first opened but with some air reveals incredible aromas of white flowers, lemon chiffon, minerals, and salinity. The palate is rich yet balanced with tons of dry extract, on the lingering palate-staining finish. This is some very impressive juice that you may see some tartratescrystals form when you chill the wine down since it has not been cold stabilized. We are currently are the only source of this outstanding Burgundian-styled Chardonnay, and only ninety-eight cases were produced! Don't miss it!
