After our last offer of Grands-Echezeaux, we were able to get a few cases of Mongeard-Mugneret's limited old-vine bottling of Echezeaux from a parcel planted in 1945. La Grand Complication only makes it to the USA in tiny quantities and is another one of John Gilman's favorite wines from the Domaine. This parcel belonged to a cousin of the Mongeard family, specifically located above Grands Echezeaux in part of Echezeaux, known as Echezeaux de Dessus. This is a concentrated wine always packed with potential and one that usually needs some time in the bottle to shine. 2018 is a riper vintage, but that plays into the Mongeard style, still showing grand cru level refinement. Just like our previous offer, this is a fantastic deal for a wine of this caliber and will be one of the best buys for a bottle of Echezeaux at this pricing.
