Patrick Jasmin is the fourth generation to make wine in Cote Rotie; dating back to 1910, Jasmin was one of the first Domaines in Cote-Rotie to bottle their own production. Patrick took over his family's historic Domaine in 1999 after the unexpected passing of his father. Though Patrick was a professional go-kart racer, wine was a fundamental part of his life, and having grown up with a family winery, the transition was natural. Patrick answered the call proudly, making a respectable Cote-Rotie in his inaugural vintage. Jasmin's Cote-Rotie is a blend of eight of the domains Lieu dit's comprised of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier coming from vines that were planted in the 1960s, which bring tremendous depth and concentration to the wine. We tasted at Jasmin years ago, and it remains one of our favorite Cote-Rotie's, and when the price is factored in, it is unbeatable, with 2018 being one of the top efforts of all time.
Wine Advocate (Joe Czerwinski) 93-95 points! "The estate's main cuvée, the 2018 Cote Rotie la Giroflarie, is inky in hue and boasts promising notes of asphalt and black olives. Full-bodied and silky in texture, it looks to be an exceptional vintage for this fourth-generation property."
