A Fantastic vintage for Jaboulet's Crozes-Hermitage from one of the early vineyard purchases of the Domaine. When value and quality intersect in the Rhone, you get Thalabert. The Domaines purchase by the Frey family in 2007 has resulted in a significant quality increase in implementing lower yields and biodynamics into the mix. One of the best Crozes-Hermitage and a favorite of ours next to Alain Graillot. Though the sourcing is slightly different from the days of old, this is still a tremendous wine for the money and from one of the time names in the Northern Rhone. Jeb Dunnuck recently released his list of top 100 wines for the year, and the 2018 Thalabert made it to the 54th spot. Always a great buy from Jaboulet, the Thalabert in 2018 is a sensational bottle and one of the top vintages of all time.
Jeb Dunnuck 94 points! "The 2019 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert showed well, with a floral, pepper, and sappy herb style as well as plenty of darker cherry and currant fruit. With medium to full body, a vibrant, elegant texture, present tannins, and good acidity, this is a classic, balanced Thalabert to hide for 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade or more."
