2018 Vineyard 29 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate

$129.99
2018 Vineyard 29 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate

We have one more fantastic back vintage of this lovely Cabernet Sauvignon today at this incredible pricing coming directly from the winery. Vineyard 29, founded by Chuck and Anne McMinn, has been producing wines since the 1990s with great success. The winemaker for this vintage was Phillippe Melka, a renowned French Winmaker based in Napa Valley. The wine is fermented using native yeasts and aged for approximately 20 months in new French oak, contributing to its robust structure and aging potential. 2018 saw 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot added to the 95% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced entirely from the 3.5-acre Aida Vineyard located in St. Helena. While this is a rich and powerful California cab, this vintage has fantastic elegance and freshness, keeping the bigger, bolder flavors in check with some beautiful underlying complexity and structure. This is starting to show well after a few years of age and will continue to age well for at least another decade. It's another exceptional deal on this full-throttle cab and is not one to miss at this closeout pricing.

Wine Advocate (Lisa Perotti-Brown) 97+ points! "A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate has a deep garnet-purple color and flamboyant notes of stewed black and red plums, boysenberries and black currant cordial plus touches of bay leaves, tilled loam, charcoal and new leather. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with tightly knit black fruit and earthy layers, framed by firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and savory."

Antonio Galloni 97 points! "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate is a real head-turner. Inky and flamboyant to its core, the Aida jumps out of the glass. Inky dark fruit, blackberry jam, bittersweet chocolate, licorice, cloves and leather are all kicked up a few notches. The Aida is a rich, hedonistic Cabernet. I would give it a few years to shed some baby fat. In a word: impressive. (Drink between 2026-2038)"

Jeb Dunnuck 97 points! "Including 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate comes from a rocky site in St. Helena and spent 20 months in French oak. It's another gorgeously balanced, elegant, yet concentrated wine from this team that has classic notes of dark currants, blackberries, savory herbs, chocolate, and lead pencil. Building nicely with time in the glass, it's full-bodied and has a layered, elegant texture, plenty of tannins, and a great finish, all making for a captivating Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Give bottles 4-5 years if possible, and it's going to evolve for 25+ years or more."
