Here is an excellent Chardonnay from one of our favorite addresses in the Russian River Valley. Walter Hansel makes great wines with very modest asking prices for how good they are. The Cuvee Alyce comes from the highest elevation vineyard Walter Hansel has. Cuvee Alyce is grown on gravel and sandy soils and tends to be the most opulent Chardonnay that they make. Typically great floral aromatics, a beautiful core of stone fruits, and an incredible liquid mineral and fruit finish. This wine sees 50% new oak and 50% 1-2-year-old French oak barrels. This bottle is an absolute joy for anyone that loves the Chardonnay grape and is quintessential Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley.
Wine Advocate (Erin Brooks) 95 points! "The 2018 Chardonnay Cuvée Alyce opens slowly to lovely aromas of warm peaches and apricots with accents of toast, roasted almonds and honey. The medium-bodied palate is silky, super concentrated, layered and fresh, cut through with uplifting mineral character and finishing very, very long. Gorgeous! 1,154 cases produced."
