2019 Arterberry Maresh Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard

$69.99
2019 Arterberry Maresh Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard
Jim Maresh makes some of our favorite wines from Oregon, a master with Pinot Noir made with a clear Burgundian approach and while that is what we mainly offer from this address, Jim also makes some decisively good Chardonnay. From the same vineyard that he sources his flagship Pinot Noir, the Maresh vineyard also holds the oldest Chardonnay vines on the property that is simultaneously at the highest elevation site belonging to Jim. 2019 is one of the top efforts of all time for this Chardonnay. Its elevation coupled with the old vines makes this wine akin to a great premier cru Chablis, focusing more on nuances like energy, texture, and minerality. An all-star bottling from Jim Maresh, who remains one of the go-to sources for classic Oregonian wines.

Wine Advocate (Erin Brooks) 96+ points! "The 2019 Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard was matured for 22 months—16 months in one-year-old Damy barrels and six months in stainless steel. It's deeply scented of roasted almonds, honey and beeswax with perfumed quince fruits and hints of flint and mushroom. Satiny in texture, pure and youthfully tangy, it has tremendous energy and textural presence, and it will continue to develop well in bottle over the next decade."
