2019 Azienda Agricola Panzanello Chianti Classico 1427

$22.95
2019 Azienda Agricola Panzanello Chianti Classico 1427
We have a fantastic Chianti buy today from Panzanello. Established in 1960, Azienda Agricola Panzanello is nestled in the heart of Tuscany. This family-owned estate spans over 60 hectares of prime vineyard real estate, cultivating Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Panzanello employs a hands-on approach to winemaking, with meticulous attention to detail in every step of the process. The estate's history is rooted in a deep passion for wine, blending modern techniques with time-honored practices to produce wines that embody the essence of the region.
The 1472, a reference to the initial roots of the estate before it became a winery, is a serious bottle of Chianti Classico that delivers the depth and quality of a Super Tuscan. Ruby with purple hues, the wine has some serious meat on its bones, and considering many Chianti Classico's can be diluted and acidic, this is quite impressive. We had a bottle open at the office for two days, and after tasting it again last night, we were floored by how good and fresh it still was. A serious value for the category while being a noteworthy example, James Suckling nailed the score on this one. Don't miss it!

James Suckling 93 pts! "I like the dark, almost broody character to this CC, which offers plenty of crushed black berries and currants, together with some forest-floor and smoky, almost coffee-grains character. Blends very nicely on the medium-bodied palate and both the fruity and savory elements latch onto the medium tannins nicely, to give good drive and decent length. Nicely controlled. This will be better after another year or so in bottle."
