We love the wines from Levet, and while we offer the reds all the time, this is the first time we have ever been able to offer the Condrieu. Levet is a small address with only 3.5 hectares of vines spread throughout Cote Rotie and Condrieu. The vineyards here have been passed down through the family for generations, and currently, the estate is in the hands of Bernard's daughter, Agnes, as she continues the legacy of this tiny but exceptional Domaine.
For nearly 40 years the Domaine has exclusively made Syrah, but in 2019, after purchasing a small plot of Viognier in Condrieu, they made their first white wine. The vines here are 20+ years old and located in La Maraze, in the commune of Saint-Michel-sur-Rhône with half of the fruit vinified in stainless steel and the other in 600-liter demi muid, giving it a fantastic freshness and attack but with the softness and extra complexity that comes with oak aging. This is a fantastic example and a great introductory vintage for the Condrieu from Levet. With five years of age, this is drinking great, and we have the only bottles of 2019 at almost half the price of the current release, making this an exceptional deal for the category and the best buy for Condrieu in 2019.
