A beautiful Bourgogne Blanc we just tasted that is showing more like a village Chassagne-Montrachet than a Bourgogne. This is such an impressive Bourgogne Blanc from an address we don't get around to offering that often. Aromas of yellow fruits, citrus, saline, pungent minerality, and a touch of oak soar from the glass. There is incredible density and layers of fruit on the palate with the weight and pedigree of a village Chassagne Montrachet. 2019 finishes with an astonishing punch and leaves lots of dry extract on the palate, with yellow fruits saline and liquid mineral notes dominating. Chateau de la Maltroye is very secretive, and the only real way of knowing the fine details is visiting, which is not easy, and cameras are not allowed. One thing that is for certain is that this is a stunning bottle of Bourgogne Blanc that is highly recommended.
