2019 Domaine De Marquiliani Rose Gris De Marquiliani Vin De Corse

$28.99
2019 Domaine De Marquiliani Rose Gris De Marquiliani Vin De Corse
An annual Rose buy for us from the village of Aghione on the island of Corsica. Marquiliani produces some of the best Rose in the world. The 200-year-old winery was burned down and abandoned until the Amalric family revitalized the Domaine and planted Nielluccio, an Italian varietal that is mainly grown on Corsica and along with Syrah. All the vines used for these two cuvees are were planted in 1964 and are still in use today. The Pauline Rose is a blend of mostly Sciaccarellu (50%), another indigenous varietal, 40% Syrah, and 10% Vermentino. The Syrah for this Cuvee is from select parcels and undergoes a slow fermentation with a blocked malolactic fermentation giving adding a level of surprising complexity. The gris is a blend of 95% Siaccarellu, and 5% Syrah and does go through malolactic fermentation, and is incredibly nuanced. Marquiliani's Rose's are ethereal and, in a sense, haunting. They are delicate and profound, leaving one thinking in a state of enjoyment and with unrivaled complexity when it comes to Rose. It's one of our favorites at this price point, and over the past couple of years, it has become increasingly hard to acquire, making it all the more desirable. We received a small allocation this year, so please act quickly!
