These are the last bottles we can offer of the 2019 Gevrey Chambertin from Harmand-Geoffroy in this rare half-bottle format. We love the convenience of this smaller size, and having some serious juice in this format is always welcome. These are the only half bottles available in the world, so grab one before they are gone!
Harmand Geoffroy is an old-school address we have followed for many years and can be a fantastic buy for Red Burgundy. We have one of those great buys in half bottle today in half bottle featuring one of the best vintages for their Gevrey-Chambertin Village of all time. The wines from Harmand Geffroy are traditional, muscular examples of Burgundy that love the cellar focusing on structure and terroir over an abundance of fruit as part of the true old guard of Burgundian winemaking. Vineyards are tended naturally with absolutely no chemicals used, with leaf thinning and green harvest used when applicable. Vinification is also reasonably traditional starting with destemmed fruit that sees a short cold soak followed by fermentation before racking into barrels for Malolactic fermentation, where the wines age for about 16 months.
2019 is one of the best vintages for Harmand-Geffroy, and the extra concentration and ripeness from the vintage helped this wine achieve one of its best performances of all time. A fantastic candidate for half-bottle enjoyment; as we have said before, it is nice to get a more serious bottle in this smaller size, and right now, we have the only bottles of this one available in the world.
John Gilman 90+ points! "The 2019 vintage of Gevrey villages from the Harmand family is another very good bottle. The wine is deep and quite black fruity, offering up scents of cassis, dark berries, grilled meats, espresso, dark soil tones, a touch of mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely tangy for the vintage, with a good core, fine focus and grip and a long, ripely tannic finish. This is a fine AC. (Drink between 2030 - 2065)"
