We just had the chance to taste their Puligny Montrachet Les Enseigneres and are happy to say this wine is beautiful. The Domaine is run by Yann Morvan and his wife Alexandra, who is the head winemaker. They farm organically, limit yields, use native yeasts, and let the hard work in the vineyard be reflected in the wines. The Puligny Ensigneeres vineyard has a great location just below Batard and Bienvenue Batard Montrachet. The vines in their Les Enseignres vineyard are about 45 years old, and the wine is elegant, refined, and complex; you would think it was a top-level premier cru! Aromas of orchard blossoms, yuzu, apple, pear, oyster shell, spice, minerals, and nougat. The palate is lively and focused with incredible energy and precision, finishing with tons of dry extract, well-integrated acidity, and exceptional length. The Enseigneres really opened up with 30 minutes or more of air which tells us a little bottle age will do wonders with this wine. Easily Premier Cru quality juice and a real overachiever perfect for the Burgundy fans out there.
