Here is a follow up to our recent Donhoff offer this time featuring a Dry Grosses Gewachs. The Felsenberg vineyard is an excellent site for Riesling, coming from 25-35-year-old vines planted on a southern slope on volcanic soils at near-vertical conditions. It is also home to the "Felsenturmchen" or rock tower, featured on the label. This incredibly steep planting provides exposure for the vines and soils to heat up from the sun and mature. The wines here have racy fruit and minerality with incredible acidity with their textbook flint aromas. Donnhoff GG's have incredible mineral purity, especially in the Felsenberg. A must for fans of Riesling, mineral-driven wines, and Donnhoff.
Wine Advocate (Stephan Reinhardt) 93-95 points! "The 2019 Riesling GG Felsenberg is pure, fresh and flinty on the precise, perfectly ripe and complex nose. Lush and generous on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense, salty, remarkably finessed and structured Felsenberg Riesling with lingering salinity and crystalline character. The finish is dense and very complex yet vital, fresh and long, with lots of expression. Tasted as a sample in Bremen, April 2020."
