The Dumol Wester Reach program started with the 2016 vintage, and the idea was to bump up the quality of the old Russian River bottling by adding some of the single vineyards they work. The move improved the quality over the regular bottling to a serious level by sourcing from the best sites that Dumol has farmed over the past two decades. From the interior plains to the western coastal vineyards, including Ritchie Vineyard, Occidental Road, Dutton-Upp Road, Widdoes Vineyard, and DuMOL Estate vines! This wide spectrum of vineyards from different locations throughout the Russian River Valley gives a complete end product that acts as a snapshot of the vintage. Incredible complexity of fruit, depth, concentration, and length, this is a bit of the best of everything DuMol has to offer in one package. With the noticeable European influence applied to California terroir, this wine bridges the gap between the old and new world as one of the top bottles of Wester Reach Pinot so far.
Wine Enthusiast 96 Upcoming review, not yet published
Decanter 94 points! "Very promising, positively restrained nose of wild berries with floral lift. An ambitious dry style with high acidity and fine tannins."
Wine Spectator 93 points! "Fine-grained, powerful and well-spiced, with floral accents to the raspberry and cherry flavors that are backed by fresh acidity. The juicy finish lingers with rich minerality and hints of white pepper. (KM)"
