2019 Dutton Estate Sauvignon Blanc Kylie's Cuvée Dutton Ranch$18.99
This wine is a fantastic expression of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. It comes two vineyards the Dutton estate farms sustainably. The Shop Block vineyard which was planted in the 1990s to the Musque clone and the Mrs. George vineyard that adds a lovely floral note to this wine. The Dutton estate farms about eight different vineyards and they are able to cherry-pick the best blocks for their Sauvignon Blanc. Ironically, they sell fruit to Merry Edwards that makes close to a $40 Sauvignon Blanc. We typically prefer Sancerre over California Sauvignon Blanc, but because of supply chain issues, most of the Sancerre’s available to us are well over $30 a bottle. Needless to say, this was the right wine at the right price that even a Sancerre lover could enjoy.
The wine is clear and light yellow in color. With aromas of white flowers, citrus skins, peach, herbs, and minerals. The palate is had good depth with flavors of peach, citrus, apple, starfruits, herb. Liquid minerals and lots of dry extracts that lingers on the finish. This is frankly about as good as California Sauvignon Blanc gets for the money thus it gets out highest recommendation!
