2019 Ernest Vineyards Pinot Noir

$29.99
2019 Ernest Vineyards Pinot Noir
One of our top Pinot Noir discoveries of last year, we were able to get a bit more of this wine after selling out, and this time, we can offer it at special pricing with a three-bottle discount. Truly an excellent buy for the category, this comes highly recommended for all of the Pinot Noir lovers with rave reviews from many of our clients. This is a beautiful and classic example of what Sonoma Coast can do at modest pricing.

The Ernest vineyards is a small micro-negotiant project by Erin Brooks. She is sourcing Pinot Noir from some of the best sustainably farmed cool-climate vineyards on the Sonoma Coast and is one of the top negociant style winemakers in the region. She likes the Sonoma Coast vineyards because of the long hang time the grapes get, which contributes to the grapes' physiological maturity and promotes more complexity in the finished product. An homage to her grandfather (pictured on the label), a risk-taker. This Pinot is made in his memory inspired Erin to take on this project in 2012.
A small percentage of the whole cluster enhances the aromatics, indigenous yeasts are employed, and about 25% new oak is used, keeping it fairly classic but with a bit of modernity. The Pinot Noir is sourced from great sites, including Michel Valentine Vineyard and Cleary Ranch Vineyards in Freestone and Grand Vent Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap. Erin works closely with the growers to dial in what she wants. This is a beautiful take on cool-climate domestic Pinot Noir with surprising complexity (probably from the hang time) with a light savory nose with notes of red berries, red flowers, a touch of spice, and wild herbs like mint and a bit underbrush. The red fruits like cranberry appear again on the palate, which is clean, bright, and energetic, with balanced tannins, a great mouthfeel, and a long lingering finish. This wine shows excellent restraint at only 12.5% alcohol and is very limited, with only about 300 cases produced. The 2019 Ernest Vineyards Pinot Noir is a fantastic value for a great Pinot. It is so impressive at this pricing, showing off the abilities of Erin Brooks as a brilliant winemaker. We have a few remaining cases of this, and it is worth every penny.
