Rick Forman was once the winemaker at Stony Hill years ago and has taken that classical approach applying it to his winery. The wines here are outstanding and also home to one of our favorite domestic Cabernet Sauvignon's. The 2019 Forman Chardonnay is the best version since the 2014 vintage sourced from older vines that Rick has owned in Carneros for years and is one of the best Chardonnays we have tasted from Napa Valley in recent memory. This Chardonnay doesn't go through Malolactic fermentation and sees about 20% new oak. A very focused and refined Chardonnay we tasted this a few days ago and loved the impeccable balance with a lingering finish with layers of dry extract. The 2019 Foreman Chardonnay is about as good as it gets for Napa, clocking in at only 13.5% Alcohol, and is a highly recommended bottle for both the Domestic and Old World wine drinkers out there.
Antonio Galloni 94 points! "The 2019 Chardonnay is compelling. In this vintage, the Chardonnay balances natural richness from aging on the lees with a touch of new oak (20%) with the energy that is the result of picking early and also blocking the malolactic fermentation. Lemon confit, marzipan, tangerine oil and white flowers all open up as this super-expressive Chardonnay shows off its character. Best of all, the 2019 can be enjoyed upon release. It is an incredibly delicious and rewarding wine to drink today."
