It has been quite some time since we have offered the wines of Geantet-Pansiot, but we were able to get a great deal on their old vine, 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin. Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine got its start in 1954 when Edmond Geantet married Bernadette Pansiot, and the newlyweds started to make wine with their combined 7 acres of vines mostly located in Gevrey-Chambertin. Today the estate is in its 3rd generation of winemaking, and the wines have never been better.
The Gevrey VV comes from a plot of vines that are 70+ years old, seeing one of its best renditions ever in the 2019 vintage. It is a wine that typically shows good power and concentration but with a cooler influence making for a more traditional example of Gevrey-Chambertin and one that does very well with cellar time. 2019 will continue to age well for another 5 to 10 years but can be enjoyed if desired and should drink at the higher end of Burghound's score in time. A beautiful example and a top buy for the money, we have low pricing today on some of the only bottles available in the USA.
Burghound 89-91 points! "There is a lovely purity to the cool, pretty and earthy nose of mostly wild dark berries. There is excellent mid-palate density to the palate coating medium weight flavor that possess an abundance of sap as the old vines are in evidence, all wrapped in a complex and lingering finish that displays focused power. A fine Gevrey villages."
