2019 Henri Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 6 pack

$299.99
2019 Henri Magnien Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 6 pack
We are running a Thanksgiving Special from next Saturday, the 26th, on this fantastic bottle from Magnien. This is a textbook old vine Gevrey Chambertin with an incredible bouquet of red and blue fruits, minerals, earth, savory, blood orange, and red flowers. The palate is equally impressive, with fantastic depth, perfect balance, and a whip-lash finish. We are offering a discount on six bottles or more, dropping the price from $54.99 to $49.99, as well as throwing in free shipping. Good while supplies last. Take advantage of this great deal!

A follow-up to our last Magnien Offer, this time it's the Gevrey-Chambertin VV which features the Domaines oldest vines at over 100 years old. Like the Cazetiers, the 2019 rendition is one of the top examples of this cuvee. The Domaine is currently run by the 12th generation of the Magnien family, Charles, who continues the legacy of this Gevrey estate, producing some of the best wines to bare the Magnien name. Charles took the helm in 2009, tirelessly working in the vineyards to improve quality, following mainly organic practices but not outside the realm of Lutte Raisonee. As mentioned, many of these sites have serious age. The Gevrey VV sees the oldest vines that Magnien owns at over 100 years old, planted in 1915. It also sees the highest percentage of the unique Pinot Noir clone dubbed Pinot Magnien, a mutation discovered in one of the Magnien vineyards in 1850 and has been used by the Domaine since that time. The Gevrey Chambertin VV is sourced from 8 different parcels totaling 1.82 hectares and sees 25% whole cluster and 25% new oak.
2019 is one of the best examples of the Geverey VV to date. While it is not quite on the level of the Cazetiers, it is not all the far behind, and, at what is essentially half the pricing, it is a brilliant buy for Red Burgundy.

Neal Martin (Vinous) 92 pts! "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from eight plots between 40 and 100 years old and includes 25% whole bunch. That stem addition is seamlessly integrated on the nose and allows the almost boisterous black cherry and raspberry scents to flourish. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, sweet and candied in style but judiciously spiced and very well structured on the long, saline finish. This is a stylish Gevrey-Chambertin. (Drink between 2024 - 2045)"
