2019 is another excellent vintage for Manni Nossing's beautiful northern Italian white wines. As we've said in the past, he's one of the rising stars for Italian white wines and a small producer doing great work. Kerner is a hybrid between Riesling and the local grape Trollinger also called Schiava. We love Manni's style that keeps its aromatics subtle and detailed, enhancing this wine's mineral expression. Manni's small estate located in Alto Adige is essentially a collection of tiny parcels across steep slopes that are former glacial deposits. The play of minerality and acidity wrapped in beautifully high toned stone fruit with just the right amount of subtle texture from his low yield farming is fantastic. Kerner is Manni's pride and joy, representing bout half of his entire production, and is one of the best examples. Another vintage of incredible elegance and complexity, and something to try for those looking for an alternative to Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
