2019 Markus Molitor Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett (Green Capsule)

$22.99
2019 Markus Molitor Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Kabinett (Green Capsule)

We are down to the last cases of this top value for 2019. A Bottle from one of Germany's top winemakers, the Urzinger Wurtsgarten green capsule drinks at a much higher level than its price point suggests. This is the best buy for the vintage in Germany; it is an excellent choice for white wine even outside the category. One of the not-to-miss wines of the vintage!

See our original offer below.

Even after an incredible 2018 vintage, 2019 is once again a top effort from Molitor. One of the key figures of the middle Mosel, Markus Molitor, is a genius with some of the best holdings in the area, many of which are "grand cru" sites. Here we have one of the consistently brilliant buys from Molitor. Markus makes three different variations of this Kabinett, a white capsule, green capsule, and gold capsule. White is a traditional fermentation, green is a classic Mosel fermentation or "Feinherb", and gold is a sweeter fermentation. The green capsule of this vintage is the decisive winner. While it's not fully fermented dry like the white capsule, the balance retained by the almost unperceivable sweetness is fantastic and shows the full extent of this vinyards capabilities. It's this interplay of acidity, sweetness, minerality, and ripeness of fruit that makes these so prized. This is probably the best buy we will see for German Riesling in the 2019 vintage and is unbelievably good at this level. If racy, mineral-driven, and energetic white wines are on your radar, then this is an excellent choice.

Wine Advocate (Stephan Reinhardt) 94+ points! "Molitor’s 2019 Ürziger Würzgarten Kabinett (Green Capsule) opens pure and flinty on the deep and complex, very intense yet bright and fascinating, seductive and terroir-driven nose. Lush and round on the palate yet with salty-piquant and vibrantly fresh acidity, this is a structured, even somewhat tannic Kabinett to cellar for at least 2-3 more years. Very long and endlessly salty. Tasted in May 2021."
