2019 Philippe Colin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers

$79.99
2019 Philippe Colin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers

A nice buy for white Burgundy in the 2019 vintage Philippe Colin is a great but younger address that started in 2004. Phillippe went to the famous viticulture school in Beaune before joining his father at Domaine Michel Colin-Deleger, located in Chassagne-Montrachet, in 1988. When his parents retired, the vineyards were split three ways with Philippes, two other brothers who decided to go into business and develop their own wines with different philosophies. Philippe Colin's Domaine encompasses 11.5 hectares of vines. One of his top wines in 2019 is Les Vergers, a vineyard located at the edge of Chassagne-Montrachet bordering the vineyards of Saint-Aubin. Vergers is located just under the Premier Cru Les Chaumees and just above another Premier Cru, Les Chevenottes. The vines here range from 10 to over 60; the different stages of life add to the complexity, energy, and concentration of this wine, while the shallow calcareous clay soils bestow an elegance to the wine. This wine offers a beautiful dynamic between the elegant mineral-driven Character and powerful, ripe fruit with a luxurious, deep, and expressive palate. This is one of the best buys for this vineyard in 2019, and we have excellent pricing here on some of the only bottles in the USA.

Neil Martin 91-93 points! "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1er Cru needs some coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing lemon sherbet and orange zest aromas, just a touch of marzipan in the background. The palate is clean and precise, the new oak is neatly integrated with a harmonious and poised finish with blood orange notes on the aftertaste. One of my picks from the domaine this year. (Drink between 2023-2039)"
