2020 Alain Verset Cornas Magnum

$99.99
2020 Alain Verset Cornas Magnum
An annual favorite running almost a decade for us now, Alain Verset continues to be one of the most undervalued producers in this famous appellation. Verset's Cornas is one of the best buys for Cornas, period. Inheriting a single hectare plot from his uncle Noel Verset and Verset produces a mere 500 cases each year. Alain's daughter Emmanuelle took over in 2016 and has continued to make fantastic wines under the Verset name. The label has changed to accept the inclusion of Emmanuelle and is now Domaine Verset A&E. While These don't quite get to Alain's legendary uncle's level, they are one of the few in the appellation that still has entirely classic character and are traditionally made wines that are fun to bury in the cellar.
The 2020 in the Rhone is considered a return to the classic after some powerful vintages, and it is a very fresh and balanced year that is fairly approachable now. It is another fantastic vintage for Verset and has the potential to be one the best ever from this tiny address. We have the only bottles available in the USA of this new vintage which is the same price as the '19s, including some very rare magnums. It is not a bottle of Cornas to miss this vintage.
