2020 Christophe Buisson Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot

$59.99
2020 Christophe Buisson Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot
An underground Burgundy producer, we clued in on these wines a while back and have been following the Domaine for the past few vintages, which have been very impressive. Christophe Buisson is a young vigneron trying to find his place in the sea of Burgundy. He is detailed and passionate about his organic vineyards, primarily located in Saint-Romain. His Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot is arguably his best white wine, and while not from his hometown, it's a welcome and healthy addition to his lineup. The vines here are 30+ years old, harvested by hand, fermented in amphorae, and aged in 2 to 6-year-old oak barrels. The wines are typically approachable on release but retain the structure for medium-term aging. Aromas of stone fruits, white flowers, minerals, and saline jump from the glass are always present, while The palate has the Morgeot richness supported by good acidity and lots of dry extract on the lingering finish. 2020 is one of his best efforts of all time, with past vintages getting nice notes from Vinous and the Cellar tracker community. A spot-on example of the Morgeot vineyard made in tiny quantities, this is very rare and incredible value for this revered vineyard and these are the only bottles currently available in the USA. Pricing for this premier cru is lower than most village wines on today's market, making it a must-try for the white Burgundy lover.
