Camus-Bouchon is one of the best addresses in Savigny-Les-Beaune, and we have another great buy from the 2020 vintage, the Bourgogne Rouge. We visited this domaine numerous times, always appreciating how classic yet refined the wines are from this slightly more rustic terroir. The wines from Camus-Bruchon have incredible structure and do very well with some cellar time, and that even goes for the Bourgogne Rouge, which we have tasted older examples of in the cellar at Camus-Bruchon. An exercise in the textbook spice and minerality of Savigny but not without a healthy dose of dark fruits. This is a very well-crafted Bourgogne Rouge, and winemaker Guillaume Camus knows how to get everything out of this wine and is a force in the vineyard and cellar, perpetuating these classic buys. It has been said that if Camus-Bruchon were in a commune like Vosne-Romanee or Gevrey-Chambertin, the wines would be double, if not more, and while this is on par with many of the top Bourgogne Rouge examples, it is also one of the best values. 2020 is outstanding and one of the best versions of this wine of all time, and right now, we have low pricing made even sweeter when you buy three bottles.
Tasting Note by John Gilman "The Camus-Bruchon 2020 Bourgogne rouge is really good this year and a great bargain. The bouquet is deep and sappy, delivering a fine mix of black cherries, dark berries, woodsmoke, a nice touch of Savigny spices and a lovely base of soil. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and tangy, with a good core, a touch of backend tannin and a long, well-balanced finish. Good juice."
