2020 Domaine Camus-Bruchon & Fils Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Grands Liards Vieilles Vignes

$39.99
2020 Domaine Camus-Bruchon & Fils Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Grands Liards Vieilles Vignes
Camus-Bouchon is one of our favorite addresses in Savigny-Les-Beaune. We have tasted at the Domaine numerous times and have always appreciated how classic yet refined the wines are for such a rustic terroir. These wines have incredible structure and do very well with some cellar time. This Cuvee comes from vines planted between 1913 and 1922, and the 2020 is the best vintage we have tasted of the Grands Liards VV. The wine is gorgeous and concentrated with red cherry, cranberry, earth, spice, and underbrush aromas. Impressive on the palate with premier cru depth, complexity, and persistence with some structure that needs resolving on the long, lively finish. Lovely ripe fruit of the vintage coupled with the classic structure of the Domaine; simply put, this is gorgeous and accessible now but should age for a decade or two. We have low pricing on some of the only bottles available in the USA.

John Gilman 92 pts! "The lieu à dit of Grands Liards must be one of the warmer microclimates in Savigny, as this is the highest octane wine in the Camus-Bruchon cellars this year at 13.6 percent, and the same thing was true of Chisa Bize’s version as well in her lineup of 2020s. This wine was raised in the same cask regimen as the Pimentiers in 2020 and has also turned out beautifully, delivering a bouquet of cherries, plums, pomegranate, woodsmoke, pigeon, lovely soil tones, a touch of vanillin oak and a spicy topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with fine focus and balance, ripe, buried tannins and a long, nascently complex finish. This will take a year or two longer to blossom than the Pimentiers, but will be every bit as fine once it is ready to drink. (Drink between 2032 - 2075)"
