2020 is the second vintage of this wine we have tried, and the first thing that came to mind was that this is almost as good as Tempier and at half the price. While Bandol is known for rose, this is one of the most serious bottles we have had at this level and reminded us of the more structured style that Tempier has with a mineral spine, floral, light red fruits, white pepper, and a depth on the palate that sets it apart while remaining fresh with savory complexity. Over 50% of the vines here are 50+ years old, and part of why it has depth and why it is so good. A blend of 70% Mourvèdre 20% Grenache 10% Cinsault certified organic since 2013 but made using biodynamic principles. A bottle we could see aging a tiny bit just like some of its peers, but it is so refreshing, delicious, and balanced in its youthful phase, making it a joy to drink now. The perfect wine for the warmer weather, this is an incredible value for those who enjoy the more sophisticated side of rose from Bandol.
