2020 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Séchet

$44.99
2020 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Séchet
The rarest of Louis Michels 1er crus, before 2010, Sechet was vinified with the Domaine's bottling of Vaillons. The vines are over 30 years old, and like all of the Louis Michel wines, they are made with natural yeast in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and vineyard character. Its aromatics, complexity, richness, and precise minerality make it an excellent Premier Cru for cellaring. The 2020 Sechet is impressive and the best version of this Cru so far from Louis Michel winemaker Guillaume Michel, who did a fantastic job once again at capturing the vintage and the precise expression of the vineyard, not as powerful but more classic. As noted below, the Sechet received the same elevage treatment as the grand crus, meaning that there is something special here, and this vintage has excellent potential. We have friendly pricing on some of the only bottles available right now, and it is a surprising effort this vintage, on par with some of the best of Louis Michel.

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 93+ points! "The 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Séchets received as long an élevage as Michel's grand cru bottlings in this vintage. Exhibiting aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers, wet stones and pastry cream, it's medium to full-bodied, with a deep, taut core, racy acids and a long, mineral finish."

Burghound 92 points! "Beautifully layered aromas are centered around citrus elements with additional notes of algae, spice and acacia blossom. The slightly bigger and more muscular flavors possess solid intensity as well as excellent persistence on the balanced, bone-dry and refreshing finale. This firmly structured effort also seems very promising while offering just a bit more underlying tension. Well-worth considering. (Drink starting 2028)"
