2020 Domaine Matrot Chardonnay Bourgogne Blanc

$29.99
2020 Domaine Matrot Chardonnay Bourgogne Blanc
A great Bourgogne Blanc, 2020 from Matrot, is an exceptional example that delivers some of their Meursault-Like qualities but at much lower pricing. This Domaine saw its first production in 1835 and officially became Domaine Matrot after 1914 when Joseph Matrot and his wife Marguerite Amoignon moved to her Meursault-based estate. The Domaine became famous in the 70s when the famed Theirry Matrot came on board and was joined by his wife, Pascale. While they are still involved at the Domaine, the Matrot Daughters, Adèle and Elsa, have stepped up, continuing the legacy of this family estate. Matrot has always been a Domaine of purity and terroir expression, limiting yields and harvesting only healthy ripe grapes with organic growing practiced since the 70s.
The Bourgogne Blanc is sourced from around the village of Meursault, giving it excellent expression and substance. It is balanced and pure, going through slow fermentation and aging 228-liter barrels (30% new) for 12 months before assembling in stainless steel and bottling. 2020 is one of the best Bourgogne Blancs Matrot has produced and is a perfect bottle for those looking to enjoy something now.
Tasting note by Allen Meadows "Bright aromas of freshly sliced apple, petrol and straw introduce delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors that terminate in a bitter lemon rind-inflected and youthfully austere finale. This is really quite pretty for its level and worth checking out. (Drink starting 2023)"
