2020 Domaine Olivier Hillaire Côtes du Rhône Vieilles Vignes

$15.99
2020 Domaine Olivier Hillaire Côtes du Rhône Vieilles Vignes
While Domaine Oliver Hillaire isn't a new address, this is the first time we have offered anything from this Chateauneuf du Pape producer. This fantastic Cotes du Rhone value is a great way to kick it off and get acquainted with this address, and it just so happens that this is the best vintage of Cote du Rhone Oliver has ever produced. In 2006, Oliver inherited vines from the Domaine des Relagnes, including vines that his grandfather planted over 100 years ago. While this Cuvee sadly doesn't contain any fruit from the 100-year-old vines (imagine that!), it does have some old vine fruit. It is a cuvee shows the expertise of the Hillaire family with the recent additions of Oliver's children Baptiste and Corentin, assisting their father. The Olivers create beautiful Grenache-driven wines with fantastic upfront appeal with gorgeous ripe red fruits, silky tannins, and Southern Rhone charm, especially in the case of the Cotes du Rhone. This recently won a silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards, and at this low pricing, it is one of the best value buys for Cotes du Rhone and a bottle not to miss.

Decanter 94 Points (blind tasted by panel) Silver Medal! "Lovely stemmy and herbal aromatics. Full-bodied and fresh with plenty of architectural interest on the palate and good acidity. Long, textural, finish. Fascinating!"
