Domaine Testut was founded in 1998 after Cyril Testut took over his father’s Domaine he founded in 1967. Since then, Cyril has made some serious Chablis that do well with cellar time. This is part of the new guard of Chablis, and these are slightly more opulent yet fresh and energetic, not far off from the style of Moreau Naudet. The vines that Cyril inherited have some nice age, and the Vaillons comes from vines that are 60 years old and planted on limestone. Vaillons is one of the top crus here, and 2020 is an exceptional example. Vaillons is one of the biggest 1er crus in Chablis, making vine location crucial to quality. The Vaillons is an elegant example showing lovely, pure orchard fruits, white flowers, and impressive minerals. This is an elegant chablis with an impressive inner mouth perfume and an excellent dynamic between richness and acidity.
The Wines from Testut are incredibly rare not much is imported to the USA, and we have some of the only bottles of the Testut Vaillons right now. This is an impressive Chablis from an under-the-radar address that is really worth checking out.
