One of the top Premier Crus from JM Boillot, the Champ Canet, is a fantastic white Burgundy. While not their oldest plot in Puligny-Montrachet, with vines averaging 55-60 years old, it is their smallest, totaling a mere .33 acres. Sharing the same broken limestone soils as the Perrières vineyard and located just above Les Combettes, Champ-Cannet is considered one of the great crus of Puligny, and this statement was evident in 2020. JM Boillot's more illustrious style paired well with this warmer vintage with an excellent concentration of fruit and acidity to bring balance to the wines. The results are one of the best Champ Canet's ever from JM Boillot, making for an excellent Premier cru White Burgundy buy. Getting a bottle of Champ Canet under the $100 mark these days can be a challenge, and we have friendly pricing here for this current release which are some of the only bottles available in the USA. A great note by Jasper Morris below; this comes highly recommended.
Jasper Morris MW 93 points! "Fine pale lemon and lime. This is very classy on the nose, less sun-drenched than Garenne. Ripe lemon notes, quality white fruit behind, a fresh crystalline finish, then the fruit returns behind. There is a lot going on here. Very persistent. Tasted: November 2021"
