2020 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons

$39.99
2020 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons

One of the rising producers and in the top 10 of the best winemakers in Chablis, Jean-Paul Droin, comes from a long lineage of Chablis natives dating back to 1614 and is the 14th generation of his family to become a winemaker. Jean-Paul has excellent holdings and has been producing some of the hottest wines, Chablis the past few years. We've been impressed with the last few vintages, and 2020 will be another fantastic vintage for Droin not to miss.
These are excellent examples of Droin's classic winemaking with hand-harvesting and fermentation with wild yeasts in stainless steel showing wonderful purity and expression. 2020 should equal the 2019s in quality and is more of a classic vintage for the region.
2020 is a vintage to buy because of the disastrous weather causing a short crop in 2021 and 2022. There will be minimal quantities for future vintages available throughout many areas of France, especially in Chablis, which will ultimately cause a spike in pricing. 2020 is the vintage to buy to hold you over for the next few vintages. We have a limited amount left in stock of these excellent crus which are a few of the top buys of this vintage.
Burghound 90-92 pts! Here there is less citrus and more floral influence on the white pepper and mineral reduction inflected nose. The sleek, intense and attractively textured medium weight flavors possess a bracing salinity on the agreeably dry and equally well-focused finale that is just a bit firmer. (Drink starting 2026)
