"The 2020 Beaune Clos des Mouches 1er Cru, which comes from deeper soils than the Beaune Grèves, has a mixture of red and black fruit and is a touch more expressive with a discrete marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, very layered with a gentle but insistent grip on the finish. This is one of the finest Clos des Mouches that I have tasted"
John Gilman 93 points! "The 2020 Clos des Mouches rouges is every bit as fine as the Grèves this year. Again, stylistic comparisons to the young 1993 are not all that far-fetched for this wine, despite the ’93 vintage being a cool one and 2020 to being a solar year. The nose delivers a lovely constellation of sweet dark berries, black plum, bitter chocolate, grilled venison, dark soil tones, a touch of stems and a nice framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, ripe and tangy, with a rock solid core, fine soil signature hovering on the horizon, buried tannins and a long, vibrant and still quite youthful finish."
