2020 La Bastide Saint-Dominique Châteauneuf-du-Pape

$34.99
2020 La Bastide Saint-Dominique Châteauneuf-du-Pape
La Bastide Saint-Dominique has been crafting exceptional wines since its establishment in 1976 by winemaker Gérard Bonnet. Situated in the heart of the Southern Rhône Valley, the estate spans 34 hectares of vineyards, predominantly planted with Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grapes. Known for its commitment to traditional winemaking practices, La Bastide Saint-Dominique embraces organic and biodynamic farming methods. Bonnet is dedicated to producing high-quality, terroir-driven wines with a focus on expressing the region's unique characteristics.
This is the first time we have tasted the wines from this producer, and we are happy to report it's an exceptional bottle of classic Chateauneuf du Pape. The wine possesses incredible depth and complexity yet is so well-balanced it carries the alcohol level perfectly. This one is also a great deal and priced under many Gigogondas and even some Cotes du Rhones from the top addresses. La Bastide Saint-Dominique is an absolute no-brainer if you like the wines from the southern Rhone and is the perfect wine for the domestic wine lover to dabble in Chateauneuf du Pape.

Wine Advocate (Joe Czerwinski) 94 pts! "A stunning success, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape delivers layers of black cherries and a hint of dark chocolate but also raspberries and peaches, leading to a complex, intriguing mix of fruit on the nose. A tank-aged blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre and 3% Cinsault, it's full-bodied and softly tannic, ripe yet structured, with a long, kaleidoscopic finish."
