2020 Luciano Sandrone Barbera d'Alba

$29.99
2020 Luciano Sandrone Barbera d'Alba
There is always something exciting about getting a value bottle from an outstanding producer that mirrors the quality of the top bottles. That is the case here with Sandrone's Barbera d'Alba, which, as many Barolo fans know, is a fantastic address led by the two flagship wines, the Le Vigne and the Cannubi, Aleste. Both are sensational, but they come with a price tag. The Barbera is one of those bottles that sneakily packs Sandrones precision and refinement at a much lower cost. This is sourced from a selection of vineyards from different villages where the parcels have a high percentage of compact marl soils with excellent sun exposure, including Cascina Pe Mol in Monforte d'Alba and Ravera in Novello. Hand-harvested, this sees indigenous fermentation in stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation in 500-liter French oak barrels spending nine months aging in the bottle before it was released. 2020 is a beautiful rendition of this wine, with incredible purity of fruit, some power from the vintage, and gorgeous upfront appeal made to drink early. It is a fantastic value for the Italian wine lover and a must-try for fans of Sandrone, and we only have a limited amount available today, so please do not wait!

Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) 93 points! "This is a terrific value wine. Darkly saturated and rich, the 2020 Barbera d'Alba is packed tight with dark blackberry and plum. This hot-vintage Barbera is lovely to pair with grilled meats or easy chicken recipes. This is a luscious, generous wine from Piedmont."
