An excellent white wine value, we have been stunned by what we have tasted recently from Galacia in Northern Spain. These wines are racy and mineral-driven showing exceptional purity of fruit and energy. This was a joy to drink and perfect for those looking for a great value bottle from the old world.

This is a fantastic Spanish white from the Ribeiro located northwest of the province of Ourense (Galicia, Spain). Many new winemakers are hitting the scene here and resurrecting old forgotten wine varietals like Treixadura and Loureira. The 2020 vintage looks to be a great one for Galacia, and the 2020 Maria Andrea Blanco fills the whole room up with its excellent aromatics. This wine is a blend of 50 % Treixadura, 25% Albarino, and 25% Loureira grapes co-fermented and aged in neutral tanks and barrels. The aromas are beguiling with notes of white flowers, stone fruits, minerals, crushed fresh herbs, saline, and a touch of diesel (like you typically find in some Rieslings). The palate is vibrantly fresh and clean, the stone fruits dominating, with lots of dry extracts and a wonderful salinity. This is absolutely a gorgeous bottle of white that would make a perfect aperitif, great with fish, salad, or lighter fare, and the perfect something to sip on while you are preparing dinner. This wine was highly recommended by one of our clients, and he was spot on!
