2020 P. Dubreuil-Fontaine Père & Fils Corton-Bressandes

$79.99
2020 P. Dubreuil-Fontaine Père & Fils Corton-Bressandes
We have special pricing on a bit more of this excellent Grand Cru Burgundy buy from Corton. The wines from Dubreuil-Fontaine have been improving, and this is the best example they have made of the Corton Bressands and their top wine this vintage. We have the only bottles of this one available in the USA right now, and it is one of the ultimate buys for Grand Cru Burgundy that can be had under $100.

We have a fantastic Grand Cru best buy from Dubreuil-Fontaine, and it is one of the more notable wines they have made in the past few vintages and their top wine of 2020. A five-generation family estate now headed by Christine Dubreuil in Pernand Vergelesses, they have a beautiful collection of vineyards around the Domaine from Bourgogne up to the Grand Crus. This is one of the few stops left where a Grand Cru Burgundy can still be had for a bargain under $100, and 2020 is one of the top examples of the Corton Bressandes here. Sourced from around 30 years old vines, the Corton Bressandes, this vintage is pretty classic. It does show some of the riper fruit of the vintage but does it so elegantly and with the support of some excellent acids and minerality that lingers on the palate with a satisfying finish. Longtime, classic staples for us and some of the best buys in Red Burgundy are a top example of the Domaine and a top buy for Grand Cru Burgundy not to miss at this low pricing.

Burghound 93 pts! "A more subtle application of wood can be found on the spicier and slightly more elegant nose of both red and dark currant, violet and more discreet earth nuances. The supple and seductively textured flavors possess equally good size and weight though with the intrinsic refinement of a classic Bressandes, all wrapped in a dusty, built-to-age and powerful finish. Lovely stuff and note that while clearly firm, it's not so structured that it couldn't be approached after 5ish years of cellaring."

Vinous (Neal Martin) 92-94 pts! "The 2020 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has quite a stony, mineral-driven bouquet that is requires more coaxing than the Corton-Perrières. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, lightly spiced with a harmonious finish that fans out beautifully. This is quite a sensual wine but I suspect it may well close up and warrant long-term cellaring. (Drink between 2026 - 2046)

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 91-94 pts! "This has been racked. Noticeably deeper and more youthful in colour than the Corton Perrières, a powerful purple. The fruit is full of energy, high octane perhaps but not burning. Indeed, this is very good on the palate, with the rich deep raspberry fruit covering the structure and extending well at the finish."
