The newest Cuvee to be created by Trimbach, the Reisling Selection VV, saw its first appearance in 2009 and has been made almost every year since then. However, Trimbach will only produce this in good vintages where there are quality grapes across the board, and '22 is one of those years. The vines for this cuvee are 50-70 years old and come from the Trimbach's vineyards in Hunawihr and Ribeauvillé where they source the bulk of their production. The grapes are left on the vine as long as possible to achieve optimal ripeness and are fermented dry in stainless steel and aged in the bottle for a few years before release. This is a fantastic example of Trimbachs elegant crystal clear style and their version of a Grosses Gewachs, and though it doesn't come from a single site, it is at times on par with the Cuvee Frederic Emilie. This is truly a lovely example of the vintage from one of the greats of Alsace and is a wine that can be approached on the earlier side. We have low pricing on a few cases due to arrive this week.
James Suckling 95 points! "Ripe and refined peach and orange-blossom aromas are wrapped around intense, chalky minerality and quite some power on the generous but focused palate. Expertly crafted, everything fitting so neatly together. Long, well-structured finish that is seriously dry. 100% estate fruit from 70-year-old vines in Ribeauvillé and Hunawihr. Drink or hold."
