2021 Alex Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet

$89.99
2021 Alex Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet

One of the top addresses in Chassagne-Mopntrachet, the wines of Bernard Moreau, have been some of the favorites of the appellation for many years, and we have a fantastic Chassagne-Montrachet AC, which is always one of the top buys here. Alex Moreau has been making the wines here for many years but decided in 2021 to relabel under his name. Don't worry; these are the exact same wines that we have all come to love. 2021 is one of the best examples of Chassagne AC that 4th generation winemaker Alex Moreau has made so far, and as John Gilman says in his review, this is premier quality. This is sourced from a few Domaine plots in Chassagne-Montrachet, with about 1/3 coming from in and around Les Masures (situated near Morgeot and Champgains), giving the wines their minerality with 2/3rds coming from the Chassagne-Puligny border which contributes fruit and freshness. This is quite remarkable and, naturally, one of the top examples of Chassagne-Montrachet AC this vintage. We have excellent low pricing here today, and for this quality and price, this is highly recommended.

John Gilman 91+ points! "The 2021 Chassagne villages bottling is simply stunning this year. The bouquet is precise and vibrant, jumping from the glass in a blaze of lemon, pear, a touch of fresh pineapple, a complex base of chalky soil tones, white lilies, lemon zest and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is precise, full-bodied and vibrant, with excellent depth at the core, a lovely girdle of acidity, superb mineral drive and a long, complex and seamlessly balanced finish. Great juice and premier cru quality without a doubt! (Drink between 2026-2050)"
