2021 Domaine Pascal Bonhomme Viré-Clessé Vieilles Vignes
This is a super impressive bottle of white Burgundy that punches above its weight class from Domaine Pascal Bonhomme. Established in 1979, Domaine Pascal Bonhomme in Viré-Clessé stands as a testament to four decades of meticulous winemaking. With a vineyard size of approximately 10 hectares, Pascal Bonhomme has dedicated himself to cultivating Chardonnay grapes using organic and biodynamic practices since 2005. The estate's commitment to sustainability extends to the winemaking process, where minimal intervention allows the terroir to express itself authentically. Known for their precise and mineral-driven wines, Domaine Pascal Bonhomme has carved a niche in the Burgundy wine scene, producing Viré-Clessé wines that capture the essence of the region's unique soil and climate at pricing seldom seen for Burgundy these days.
This classic vintage gives this wine some attractive focus coupled with the old vines that provide incredible depth and nice concentration. For the price, you can't find a better classic Chardonnay. This would be a great cellar saver or daily pour for the Chardonnay lover!

John Gilman 93 pts! "The Vieilles Vignes bottling of Viré-Clessé from Pascal Bonhomme is crafted from his oldest vines, which now range up to seventy-five years of age; twenty percent of the cuvée is raised in oak barrels, with the remainder in stainless steel. The 2021 Vieilles Vignes is outstanding, delivering a deep and complex bouquet of pear, apple, toasted almond, a beautiful base of chalky minerality, orange peel, gently musky floral tones and a deft touch of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely ripe in profile, with superb depth of fruit, lovely soil undertow, bright acids and excellent focus and grip on the long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. This is lovely. 2023-2035"
