2021 Drouhin Oregon Roserock Pinot Noir Zéphirine

$64.99
2021 Drouhin Oregon Roserock Pinot Noir Zéphirine
We have a few cases of Zephirine available, which is one of the best examples ever from Domaine Drouhin, Oregon. Truly classic Oregon Pinot with a Burgundian touch, these wines are excellent while remaining slightly more reasonable than some of the other high-scoring examples from Oregon. 2021 is one of the best vintages for this wine yet, and we have a bit left at this friendly pricing.

While we typically offer wines from Domaine Drouhin, Oregon, Roserock is the next chapter of Drouhin's Oregon winery. It is a vineyard located at the southern end of the Eola-Amity hills that Drouhin sought out for its ancient volcanic soils and location, producing outstanding cool-climate Pinot Noir. They make a few Pinots at this address, with Zephirine being the top example. Zepherine is a selection of typically the best barrels from the vintage chosen by Winemaker Veronique Drouhin, and 2021 is another standout example and a return to normalcy after the challenging 2020 vintage. Fruit quality is excellent this vintage, and while it was warmer (there were a few high-heat days), the summer was actually milder, with the fruit showing an outstanding balance of acidity and sugars, making for a complex with that shows a beautiful dynamic of power and elegance. Zepherine is a wine of purity, finesse, and elegance, with 2021 playing right into the style of this wine. The Roserock Pinots are refined and structured for the cellar, clearly inspired by their work in Burgundy, and 2021 is a very impressive example with an appeal to both new and old world palates. We have a limited amount of this current release arriving this week, and it is a top example of Oregon Pinot Noir in this vintage.

James Suckling 97 points! "Beautifully fragrant notes of cocoa-dusted raspberries and crushed blueberries with dried rose petals, sencha tea, cherry chocolate and crushed rocks. Ground spices, too. It shows both delicacy and power, with a compact and silky feeling to the tannin structure and impressive acidity which carries the freshness and tone through to the finish. Attractive tension of crunchy blue fruit and spices. Drink or hold."
