2021 Hamilton Russell Vineyards Pinot Noir 6-Pack with free ground shipping Eta W/O 5-8-2023
We have been drinking the wines from Hamilton Russell for over a decade, and they are consistently some of the best examples of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the southern hemisphere. While the Chardonnay has been more of a go-to for us, we do like to offer the Pinot Noir in exceptional vintages, and 2021 is a benchmark year for Hamilton Russel and the basis for one of the best Pinot Noirs they have ever made. Hamilton Russel is located in the Hemel-en-Aarde, one of the best growing regions in South Africa, with its coastal influence playing a big role in the more classic style of these wines. The Pinot Noir is planted on stony, clay-rich soil lacking nutrients forcing vines to grow massive root structures in order to find life, giving the wines more character and concentration and naturally lower yields. Because of these processes, the wines directly represent this terroir, a key aspect that Hamilton Russel actively looks for in each vintage. 2021 was the coolest vintage in the last ten years for in Hemel-en-Aarde, and winemaker Anthony Hamilton Russell thinks this could be the best yet. With alcohol right around 13%, this is a classic example that is capable of standing up to some of the best Pinot Noirs in the world.
The 2021 is the best version of the Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir we have ever tasted. Wine has lovely aromas of red fruits, orange zest, and lovely minerality. The palate is exquisite and refined, reminiscent of a red Burgundy from Chambole Musigny. While the elegance here captivates you, the finish builds up steam and lingers in the mouth for a minute or two. This wine will undoubtedly put on weight in the bottle and is one of the best Pinot Noir we have tasted from anywhere for the price! Great juice -Buy six bottles or more and get free shipping.

Decanter (Andy Howard MW) 96 points! "Anthony Hamilton Russell views this as perhaps his finest Pinot Noir to date. 2021 was a cooler, later vintage (only 2001, 2004 and 2008 have been cooler in the past 25 years). It shows concentrated red berry fruit and sweet and spicy notes on the palate with velvety tannins and structure for the long haul. Aged 10 months in François Frères barriques. Still ultra-youthful, it needs two or three years but will keep several decades. (Drink between 2024-2035)"

Tim Atkin MW 95 pts! "The latest in an impressive run of Pinot Noir releases from the ever youthful Emul Ross. Stylishly oaked in 29% new barrels, it's savoury and spicy, with 12% whole bunches, sinewy tannins and a core of plum, raspberry and dark cherry fruit."
