$99.99
2022 Bachey-Legros Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Les Petit Clos Vieilles Vignes

Today, we have a rare new white Burgundy find from an under-the-radar producer, Bachey-Legros. This wine is sourced from a historic 0.5-hectare parcel within Morgeot, planted by Jean-Claude Ramonet’s grandfather just after WWII, making the vines here rather old. Bachey-Legros is a family-run domaine with roots dating back to the 19th century. The domaine maintains a meticulous, traditional winemaking approach—native yeast fermentation, extended lees aging, and judicious use of oak (typically 30–40% new) to enhance complexity without overpowering terroir expression.

The 2022 vintage was a warm yet balanced growing season, producing wines with generous fruit, vibrant acidity, and excellent aging potential. The vineyard’s limestone-rich soils and ideal exposure contribute to the wine’s depth and precision, displaying a radiant pale gold hue, with aromas of ripe pear, white peach, and Meyer lemon, layered with acacia flowers, toasted almonds, and subtle vanilla from well-integrated oak. The palate is full-bodied and layered, featuring citrus, orchard fruits, and a distinct mineral backbone, all balanced by a creamy texture and vibrant acidity with a long, elegant finish revealing hints of honey and wet stone. Approachable now yet structured for 8–10 years of evolution, it's an exceptional old vine representation of Morgeot’s power and elegance and a very reasonable price!
