2022 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon

$49.99
2022 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon
2022 is another excellent vintage for Moreau, with a much-needed high-quality crop after the devastation of the '21 vintage. Though frosts still slashed yields, the secondary buds were fine, which was not the case in 2021. Jasper Morris says the 2022 vintage is neck and neck with 2020 and one of the best in the last several years.
While the wines of Christian Moreau can be a challenge to acquire at reasonable pricing, we have a great one today and are offering a 105 discount to anyone who purchases 3 or more bottles. The Moreau family has been curating the vines and making wine in Chablis for six generations, owning 12 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards and a healthy amount of premier crus. Moreau seeks to make wines that fully display these great vineyards' high-quality fruit and expression. As a result, these are incredibly pure and complex wines that show the fantastic interplay of power and elegance that great Chablis should have. While this Vaillons is not the cuvee Guy Moreau, which comes from a single, very old parcel, this still sees impressive fruit from older vines and is a blend of 5 parcels ranging from 35-75 years old. Vines are organic and planted on textbook Kimmeridgien soils, which gives this wine a distinct flair and minerality. It's a fantastic example of the vineyard and a great buy for the category, especially when you factor in the discount. We have just a few cases at this low pricing, so grab them while you can!

Burghound 89-92 points! "Here too there is a whiff of lychee on the ripe aromas of white and yellow peach, white flower and zest, all of which is trimmed in discreet wood influence. The notably finer medium weight flavors possess very fine mid-palate concentration while delivering solid length on the bitter lemon, clean, dry and nicely sleek finish."
