We have a limited amount of this fantastic Rose from Corsica arriving next week. One of our all-time favorites, the Gris, is an excellent way to beat the heat this summer, and 2022 is another great example of this tried and true rose from Marquiliani.
One of our client's favorite roses next to Tempier, Marquiliani's roses, are exceptional and among the best examples. This is an annual rose offer for us, and the 2022 has just been released from the village of Aghione on the island of Corsica. Marquiliani is based in a 200-year-old winery that was burned down and abandoned until the Amalric family (current owners)revitalized the Domaine, planting a few indigenous Italian varietals mainly grown on Corsica and Syrah. All the vines used for these two cuvees were originally planted in 1964 and are still in use today.
The Gris is a blend of 95% Siaccarellu and 5% Syrah which does go through malolactic fermentation and is incredibly nuanced. Marquiliani's roses are ethereal and, in a sense, haunting and resonating. They are delicate and profound, leaving one thinking in a state of enjoyment while they slowly open up in the glass, revealing some significant depth. These are some of the best at this price point, and over the past couple of years, they have become more tightly allocated, making it all the more desirable. The 2022s are another excellent vintage for these wines, and we received a small allocation this year, so please act quickly!
