We have two exceptional Meursault buys today from this great domaine, and we are blown away by the 2022 vintage here after just tasting these in France. Latour Giraud continues to make some of the best buys for Meursault, and we have a bit more of the fan favorite, Meursault Genevrieres 1er, but also some of the Narvaux, which is absolutely stunning here in 2022. Latour Giraud is a classic Domaine with family roots going back to 1680 in Meursault, with a brief stint making Marc de Bourgogne at the Hospices of Mersault before moving to wine. Today, Jean-Pierre Latour heads this 10-hectare estate, which holds one of the most significant portions of Meursault Genevrieres, owning 2.5 hectares of the 16-hectare vineyard. 2022 is an exceptional vintage for the Domaine, and the wines are a bit more classic than the 2020s, which we all loved. Both of these have exceptional potential and are the best buys for these vineyards this vintage. Low pricing here today. These are two not-to-miss wines in 2022 and get our highest recommendation.
Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 93-95 points! "Some light green reflections in the primrose yellow colour. A stricter nose, perhaps a touch of sulphur. This may also appear more backward coming after the Charmes. Then a vast wealth of fruit on the palate and now we see the real wine. It maintains the herbal note I associate with Genevrières, alongside golden fruit at a perfect degree of ripeness. The fruit and the acidity weave in and out of each other. I would not want the fruit to be riper but it is full of charm as it stands, and kept in place by the precision of the structure. Very fine."
