This great Domaine was established in the 1930s in Chassagne-Montrachet, and while the white wines are the standouts here, the red are lovely, elegant examples that are great buys. The 2022 Monthélie reflects the estate’s traditional winemaking approach, emphasizing careful vineyard management and classic Burgundian techniques. Monthélie is a small appellation known for producing structured yet elegant Pinot Noir that can be considered a younger sibling to the wines of Volnay. The warmer vintage brought out a bit more generous yet fresh red fruit—cherry and raspberry with subtle earth and a touch of spice. The palate has good structure and refinement, with fine tannins, good lift from the acidity, and a lingering finish. A classic Burgundian style with Ramonet’s signature precision, this wine should evolve well over the next several years and is a great red buy from the Domaine at this low pricing!
