While the Rose from Tempeier will always be the mainstay of the address for us, they make a few other noteworthy wines that mirror the same quality of their much-loved rose. One such wine is the Bandol Blanc, which we have today. Tempier purchased a new 18-hectare site in 2016, which is now the source of the Bandol Blanc. The family was impressed with the terroir and potential of this vineyard, which has sandy marl soils and a slightly cooler climate. The cool climate really emphasizes the freshness that Tempier strives for, lending to the brilliance and overall precision of the wine, and allows for a more balanced level of alcohol and ripeness of fruit. The blend here is a classic selection of white provincial varietals featuring Clairette (60%) and Ugni Blanc (30%), with the remaining 10% comprised of Rolle, Bourboulenc, and Marsanne from vines between 25 and 30. 2023 is a refreshing and vibrant example of this cuvee with energetic notes of citrus and a lovely array of orchard fruits. This is one of the rarer selections from Tempier, and right now, we have low pricing on some of the only bottles available in the USA.
